Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 8:30PM 'Monsters' Star Scoot McNairy Joins Ben Affleck's 'Argo'
Unfamiliar with Scoot McNairy? No problem, you're not alone. McNairy starred in an impressive under the radar sci-fi flick called Monsters, which I highly recommend as it's kind of a poor man's District 9.

Apparently, Ben Affleck is a fan and has since signed McNairy to star in an unspecified role for his third directorial effort Argo, according to Variety. Argo tells the story of how, in 1979 C.I.A operatives posed as Hollywood filmmakers making an alien movie as a cover to rescue hostages from behind enemy lines in Tehran.
The story itself comes from a Wired Magazine article written by Josh Bearman in '07, and is being characterized as a Men Who Stare at Goats type of movie. The premise sounds a little like Wag the Dog to me as well.
Affleck will also headline Argo, which co-stars Bryan Cranston, John Goodman and Alan Arkin. That's a very formidable cast and McNairy's addition should only enhance the performances of this talented group. He also has a future role in Cogan's Trade starring Brad Pitt. Both movies are due out in 2012.
