Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 7:09AM J.J. Abrams Officially Locked into 'Star Trek' Sequel

Apparently there was some concern as to whether J.J. Abrams would return to direct the next Star Trek movie. That's a scary thought. I'm glad to report now that Abrams has signed on to helm the highly-anticipated, yet currently untitled Star Trek sequel, according to Vulture. Equally awesome is the news that Damon Lindelof, Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman are back writing the script and are expected to be finished by the end of the month.
Now that Abrams is in, the project is reportedly moving ahead quickly, and the plan is to begin shooting at the start of next year. This would set Star Trek on course for a 2013 release.
The real bummer is when Abrams was allegedly non-commital to a follow-up, Paramount bumped Star Trek from its intended theatrical release (July 29, 2012) and handed it over to G.I. Joe 2: Retailiation. Of course other factors were in play for the film's delay, such as scheduling the sequel around Kurtzman's feature directorial debut, Welcome To People, which Captain Kirk himself, Chris Pine is slated to star alongside Olivia Wilde in.
The Enterprise may not be on schedule or moving at warp speed, but at least it's in route with Abrams and the same cast/writers on board.

I like this article! It's cool.
Sorry, Orci and Kurtzman are the worst screenwriters alive! I don't know, why their movies are so successful, they are so horribly stupid and unlogical. They can do as many Star Trek or Transformer movies, they want, I won't watch any of them. I've had enough!
You didn't like the last Star Trek?
I hope they include Lady Gaga in the sequel as a singer with dark connections to the villains. With her futuristic music and style, she would fit right in.
I would like to see Kirk, Spock and McCoy go undercover to a techno concert of hers on a distant planet which is raided by many henchmen who have a thunderous phaser fight with them.
