Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 12:03PM 'The Goon' Adaptation Closer To Production? We'll See
A commentor on a recent article asked when The Goon will see the light of day. Well, the answer to that question can't be answered just yet. Though there is some light shining bright from the end of the tunnel. Yesterday, Eric Powell, the creator of the comic series, released some test footage from the forthcoming film. The film will be based on the Dark Horse Comics of the same name. Check out the awesome test footage after the jump.
I haven't read any of the comics but I will pick a few issues up later today from my local comic parlor. As you saw before the clip began, The Goon is still trying to get funded. It's sad to see that this film has the potential to be a great film and an instant cult classic but most likely this film will never come out. Adult animation doesn't have a great track record at the box-office. The Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie flopped at the box-office, so did Fritz The Cat, and South Park did modestly. As of this writing, The Goon has no release date and Clancy Brown and Paul Giamatti provide the voices for the main characters.
Let's say that you owned a film studio, would you fund this film knowing that it might not make back its budget?

I know seeing this as a full feature is a pipe dream but everyone involved handled both this test footage and the teaser trailer perfectly and it looks amazing and exactly like the comic. I think that if the footage/teaser gets more attention on the net that it could easily get made especially with all the attention Zombies get nowadays with TV and movies. Keep on pressing forward David Fincher and Eric Powell. I won't give up hope just yet.
