Friday, September 16, 2011 at 7:13AM 'MacGruber' Star Will Forte Signs Up for 'Neighborhood Watch'

MacGruber is one of my favorite comedies, so I'm glad to see Will Forte acquire more roles. THR reports, the SNL funny man is the latest actor to sign on for the comedy Neighborhood Watch. Forte joins the likes of Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill who will also star in the movie written by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Jared Stern.
Neighborhood Watch is about a group of suburb fathers and husbands who organize a fake neighborhood watch committee for the sole purpose of getting away from their wives and children. Their perfect situation soon becomes problematic as the group ends up smack dab in the middle of an alien conspiracy. D'oh!
The comedy will be directed by Akiva Schaffer, who just happened to create one of my other personal favorite flicks Hot Rod, which starred the great Andy Samberg. They've assembled some formidable talent for this one, though I was bummed to learn that Chris Tucker won't be in the film after all. I can't recall who they replaced him with.
Not sure what role they have in mind for Forte yet, but I assume he's a member of the inclusive neighborhood watch.
This comedy has real potential and it's marked on my calender already.
Neighborhood Watch is scheduled to arrive in theaters next summer, July 27, 2012.
