Friday, September 16, 2011 at 12:21PM *Spoiler Alert* New TV Spot For 'The Thing' Very Revealing
If you like to go into a movie fresh, as with no prior knowledge of the film, do not watch this TV spot for the new Thing prequel/remake. It's good to reveal a broad outline of the plot for the viewer, but apparently the folks behind this production didn't get that memo.
This Thing is not be confused with John Carpenter's The Thing, which starred Kurt Russell or the original Thing. Joel Edgerton (Warrior) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs The World) star as Antartic scientists who stumble upon an alien species frozen in a block of ice. The TV spot can fill you in on the rest of the details, if you dare watch.
The new Thing is directed by feature film newcomer Matthjis van Heijningen Jr. and will show itself in theaters on October 14th. Despite the spoilers left and right, I still want to see the flame thrower action go down on the big screen, as well as people get penetrated or I guess possessed is the better word by the alien.
