Just to answer my own question today, I wanted to see what this whole Shia Labeouf and Marilyn Manson link was all about.  Turns out Labeouf got behind the camera to direct Manson's new video "Born Villain", which I've included below.

I thought it would be fun to watch the video, which I can safely say is pretty fucked up even by Manson's own usual standards.  It's kinda like watching a David Lynch movie, a lot of bizarre stuff happening.    

Here's what Labeouf had to say about his directorial debut.

"I don't see fans of mine who went to see 'Holes' when they were 12 loving this." He said.  "I don't think my audience is the only thing I should exercise my artistic musle for.  I don't necessarily always do things for the audience, this is one of those."

So why did he chose to shoot a Marilyn Manson video?

"I don't know of a scarier figure in art.  He, in my teenage years, was the scariest thing in the world, so part of me has always been intrigued."

ActualIy, I think it's pretty good for a "celebrity directed" video. The sad thing is where something like this is just stuck over in obscure parts of the internet for it's target audience to discover, it's not out in the mainstream challenging the sensibilities - of yeah - all those kids that saw LaBeouf in "Holes" or even "Transformers".
