Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 8:15PM Jackie Earle Haley Added to Spielberg's 'Lincoln' Cast
The cast for Steven Spielberg's Lincoln just added it's first Confederate role player. Deadline reported earlier, Jackie Earle Haley (Nightmare on Elm Street,Watchmen) will play the vice president of the Confederate States, Alexander Stephens in Lincoln. Stephens was strongly opposed to Lincoln's anti-slavery legislation, which was put to an end by Lincoln. It's good to brush up on American history from time to time.
Haley is the latest to sign on to the collectively talented cast of Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, John Hawkes (Deadwood), James Spader, Sally Field, David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck), Walton Goggins (The Shield), Tim Blake Nelson (O'Brother, Where Art Thou) and many more.
It will be another villain type role for Haley, who played Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, and kind of the anti-super hero as Rorschach in the Watchmen. He's an excellent addition to the remarkable cast attached to this epic film.
Lincoln will begin shooting in the fall, and is scheduled to be released in theaters after the Presidential election in November 2012. Not before, as I accidently stated in a previous post.
