Friday, September 23, 2011 at 12:25PM Depp's Creepy Glance Highlights New 'Rum Diary' Poster
To say I'm psyched for The Rum Diary would be a massive understatement. I can't wait to see Johnny Depp take on another role inspired by the mind of the late Hunter S. Thompson as burnt out, freelance journalist Paul Kemp in the upcoming movie.
Bruce Robinson has written and directed this newest Thompson film adaptation, the first trailer of which was outstanding. I included it with the new poster after the jump.
The first poster consisted entirely of tiny rum shooters used to spell out Rum Diary, which was clever. This second released poster closes in on Depp's face as he's throwing a creey glare at someone. Of course, this being a Thompson tale, his character could be under the influence of something.
We'll see what happens to Depp or Paul Kemp as he ventures into the Caribbean, luckily not dressed as a damn pirate for a change. While I'm not expecting The Rum Diary will be on par with the greatness of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, it's bound to be entertaining and worth the price of admission.
The Rum Diary will be in theaters on October 28th. Here's the trailer one more time.
