Gossip Girl and total babe Blake Lively is being courted for the lead role in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by newly-installed director Craig Gillespie, according to Twitch. This is the same lead role that Mia Wasikowska, Emma Stone and Scarlett Johansson have all said "no thanks" to.
Lively held previous film roles in the Green Lantern and The Town, so she's got the acting chops of a leading lady. I personally thought she killed it as Ben Affleck's friend with benefits in The Town.
As for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the proposed movie is on its third director, after David O. Russell and Mike White passed on it. Natalie Portman is still attached as a producer, though she also backed out of the Elizabeth Bennett role.
If Lively also declines the role, they'll simply move onto the next big name actress. Rest assured the film adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's novel will be made, but as history has proven thus far it won't be easy.
Grahame-Smith's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter has just wrapped production, so there's reason for optimism with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Soon we'll learn whether Blake Lively wants to go along for the ride.
