Don't we all dream about stuff we believe should be a movie? I certainly do and many scientists have somewhat successfully decided to put together a computer program to help us do just that. A study in the Current Biology journal reveals the use of MRI scanners, among other electronic devices, to decipher the neaural activity of the brain into images. Crazy right?

"Scientists at theUniversity of California at Berkeley have figured out how to reconstruct the movies people see in their minds... researchers recount how they showed subjects Hollywood movie trailers, used MRI scanners and computational models to record the brain activity associated with each image, then worked backwards and used the patterns of brain activity to predict and recreate the images that subjects were watching."

Apparently, this is the first time a moving image was successfully recorded and here's the video to prove it:

"[T]he computer model's predictive ability is still very crude. The scientists say we're still decades away from being able to use the technology to read the thoughts and dreams of others... Still, "this is a major leap toward reconstructing internal imagery," said Berkeley neuroscientist Jack Gallant, a coauthor of the study... "We are opening a window into the movies in our minds."'

Start saving up those ideas and get visionary directors like James Cameron, Ridley Scott, Christopher Nolan and Tim Burton to test drive this new science. I want to know what they're dreaming and if only Inception were true right now. I seriously hope this isn't a hoax from some Hollywood marketing machine for a new blockbuster we've yet to hear about.

For those film buffs out there not interested in know what big Hollywood directors are dreaming, wouldn't you want to see what David Lynch is dreaming? Certainly something along these lines:
