'Wanted' Screenwriters Retained for The Sequel

Will Angelina Jolie turn around for Wanted 2?

I'm sure from the closing credits of Angelina Jolie's Wanted, it was easily determined a sequel would follow.  Universal has begun that trek by resigning writers Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, along with Chris Morgan (though he wasn't mentioned) to pen Wanted 2, Haas tweeted earlier today.

Unfortunately, Twitter only allows 140 characters per tweet, so the message lacks any real concrete details other than the hiring.  Damn you Twitter!

Timur Bekmambetov's 2008 blockbuster made $50.9 million in its first weekend and grossed $341.4 million worldwide.  The Russian director just wrapped up production on Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, so who knows if he's interested in helming the sequel.  Jolie said she wouldn't return for a follow-up, though actors flip-flop on those claims all the time.  James McAvoy's character would seemingly be poised for more screen time in Wanted 2 should he choose to return.

Wanted 2 would be in the best interest of everyone from the studio, cast and crew to the moviegoers who shell out the money to make these sequels possible.
