Spike Lee's Pick for 'Oldboy' Female Lead, Rooney Mara?

Rooney Mara could soon star in a second English language remake to go along with David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  Twitch reports the fast-rising actress is also being targeted for the female lead opposite of Josh Brolin for the Oldboy remake coming from Spike Lee.  Mara, if she joins the film, would play a young chef who becomes romantically involved with Brolin's character.

The new script, written by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend) has Brolin playing the Dae-su Oh role made famous originally by Min-sik Choi.  He is kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years, unaware of who his kidnappers are.  One day he is released and given cash, a cell phone and clothes.  He then goes on a mission to exact his revenge on those who took 15 years of his life away.  

Although, the Mara rumor has yet to be officially confirmed, Twitch intially broke the news about both Spike Lee and Brolin joining the Oldboy remake, so they seem to be a credible source.

The Oldboy remake has mostly been received with disappointment from fans of the original and rightfully so.  If Mara joins Brolin in the cast, is that a good addition?
