Matthew McConaughey plays a hitman for hire in William Friedkin's new dramedy Killer Joe. When a young man's (Emile Hirsch) life is put in danger by an owed debt, he hires Killer Joe Cooper (McConaughey) to whack his evil mother for the insurance money to repay those debts.
I saw a clip for this movie a month ago, where Hirsch and his pal, played by Thomas Haden Church try to negotiate with Killer Joe on his asking price of $25,000 for the job, and he turns them down before asking if the kid's sister can be part of the deal. He definitely walks the walk and talks the talk.
The film is based on a play by Tracy Letts, who also wrote the screenplay. More exciting is the fact that Killer Joe was directed by William Friedkin, the man behind such classics as The Exorcist (best horror movie ever) and The French Connection.
Below is the first poster for Killer Joe with McConaughey holding a pistol, and Hirsch looking very much like a guy who knows he just got into business with the wrong dude.
Unfortunately, there's no release date for Killer Joe yet.
