9/11 was the greatest tragedy to occur on American soil, and was a day none of us will ever forget. In the new drama Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, an eccentric nine-year-old boy (Thomas Horn) loses his father in the World Trade Center (Tom Hanks) during the September 11th attacks, and him and his mother (Sandra Bullock) must come to terms with the unexpected death. The young boy, who was very close with his father stumbles upon a key his father left for him, but is unsure of the lock it opens and what's inside. He then departs on a journey throughout New York in search of where the mysterious lock is.
This proves to be a journey of self-discovery the child desperately needs to grieve over the death of his father.
The film looks like a possible tear jerking drama with a silver lining built inside. It was directed by Stephen Daldry (The Reader, Billy Elliot) and will be in theaters on January 20, 2012.
If you've got ice water running through your veins, you might get through this movie without getting misty eyed. I don't know that I'll be as lucky.
