Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 11:11PM Bloody, Toothless Smiles Grace Posters for Hockey Movie 'Goon'
Finally we have a hockey inspired movie that's less about the sport and more about brawling on the ice, plus it stars the hilarious Seann William Scott. In the new comedy Goon, a bouncer (Scott, I assume) leads a team of misfit hockey players to a successful run in a semi-pro/minor league by pummeling everything that stands in his way.
Goon was directed by Michael Dowse (not Kevin Smith as the only picture I could find for the film indicates above), though last I heard Smith was also directing a hockey fights flick called Hit Somebody. This script was written by Evan Goldberg (Pineapple Express) and Jay Baruchel, who also stars in the movie with Liev Schrieber and Scott. It was adapted from a novel written by Doug Smith and Adam Frattasio.
The first posters for Goon debuted earlier today, one with a bloodied and toothless smiling Schrieber, and the other showing an equally bloodied, snaggle-toothed grinning Scott.
I'm wondering if Naomi Watts would still kiss this face?
There's no official release date for Goon yet. It could prove to be Happy Gilmore without the golf or substitute golf with hockey. I'm sold either way, until I see a trailer that is.
