Friday, September 9, 2011 at 2:10PM Producer Talks About New & Improved 'Wolverine' & 'Deadpool'

Hey someone in the know is finally updating us on the delayed Wolverine sequel and Deadpool's debut movie. While out promoting the newly released on Blu-Ray and DVD X-Men: First Class, producer Lauren Shuler Donner talked future X-Men related movies.
She first discussed how the next Wolverine installment won't be a sequel, and why the studio must wait on Hugh Jackman to finish other projects (Les Miserables) to start production. Here's what she had to say.
"[We want] to distinguish it from the other one...It's much more of a standalone [movie]...I'm not sure when we'll start. Maybe summer 2012 we'll start shooting. It's based on Hugh's schedule, frankly. When he's available, we'll film...He's doing 'Les Miserables', and then has to come train for us. So it's all dependent upon him."
I figured with the title The Wolverine that a facelift was kinda the plan. Word is we can guarantee James Mangold's Wolverine will be far more serious.
She then tackled the subject of Deadpool. The good news being the movie is still happening.
"We're working on getting it ready, and presenting some things to the studio, cause we're gonna give it a little bit of a different look...It's a different kind of movie. If you know 'Deadpool'...it's true to 'Deadpool'. So you know, it'll be violent, and outrageous, and funny, and all that."
My stepbrother, who read tons of Deadpool comics back in the day will be thrilled for sure. Everyone knows the studio dropped the ball big time with Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Speaking of which, Donner mentioned as much in a later interview.
"Yes he was treated totally wrong in the Wolverine film and yes we will redeem him," she admitted.
'Bout time we received an apology of sorts. Now if the NFL can only admit that Super Bowl XL was fixed, I can die a happy man.

Since they are doing a Deadpool movie, they have to include Agent X, Blind Al, Bob - Agent of HYDRA, Sandi Brandenberg, Copycat, Outlaw, Weasel and Siryn.
I think Deadpool will face off with Ajax, Black Swan and T-Ray.
Aside from Silver Samurai and Viper, I think Wolverine will battle Daken, The Gorgon, Matsu’o Tsurayaba, Ogun and Shingen Yashida.
Since the story is set in Japan, they have to include Tyger Tiger (Jessan Hoan), Itsu, Amiko Kobayashi, Mariko Yashida and Yukio.
