James McTeigue talking The Raven at Comic Con
The director of V for Vendetta and the upcoming Edgar Allan Poe inspired Raven starring John Cusack is going gangster for his next film. Relativity Media has brought James McTeigue onboard to helm the next Al Capone vs Elliot Ness silver screen showdown, cleverly titled Ness/Capone. It's said to be a fresh twist on the story of the 1920's war between the infamous Chicago mobster and the FBI agent assigned to bring him down.
Don't expect to see the same do-gooder Elliot Ness portrayed by Kevin Costner in The Untouchables (1987). This version of Ness is said to be "an attention-seeking womanizer who took great joy in bringing the mobster down." Sweet! Johnny Depp might want to dust off the 'ol John Dillinger fedora and tommy gun for this one, at least that's who can imagine in this role.
I loved V for Vendetta and The Raven looks promising, so McTeigue gets my vote of confidence on this next one.
No word on when production will start. Ness/Capone is currently slated for a 2014 release.

If it can be more true-to-life than what "The Untouchables" was but have a little more energy than "Public Enemies" they might have something. I'd still suggest a title change though.
