Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 11:24AM Tilda Swinton & Jamie Bell to Join Chris Evans In ‘Snow Piercer’?
Korean writer/director Joon-ho Bong (The Host) is coming to Hollywood and is looking to make a big splash with his debut film Snow Piercer. Last week it was announced that Chris Evans was close to signing on to the project. Now Variety is reporting that both Tilda Swinton and Jamie Bell are deep in talks to join him. Shooting is scheduled to begin this March in Praque. Chan-wook Park (Oldboy) co-wrote the screenplay and is attached as a producer.
Joon-ho’s indie drama is based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige and is a post-apocalyptic story that revolves around a trainload of travelers trying to co-exist as they make their way through a frigid world of snow and ice.
Swinton is currently viewed as a very strong contender to receive an Oscar nomination for her role of Eva in We Need to Talk About Kevin. While she didn’t win the Golden Globe – she did win the David Bowie look-alike award. Bell is equally in the Oscar mix for his “voice” role of Tintin in The Adventures of Tintin.
These projects are always the most fun to speculate about. Usually films with a post-apocalypse backdrop feature so-so acting with lots of action. This one suggests action with strong acting – and those don’t come along every day. Stay tuned.
