Monday, January 23, 2012 at 6:03PM Is Shane's Time on 'The Walking Dead' Running Out?

Some casting news is making the rounds today, and the rumors could have serious implications regarding AMC's The Walking Dead. Variety reported that former Walking Dead head man Frank Darabont is currently eyeing actor Jon Bernthal (Shane from Walking Dead) for a major role as police officer in his new TNT series L.A. Noir. This has sparked speculation that Shane's days of zombie slaying may soon come to an end, as the second half of WD season 2 is set to premiere in February.
Possible *Spoiler Alert* Ahead. It should be noted that Shane didn't live to see the end of the graphic novel from which The Walking Dead is based, which is too bad considering he's by far my favorite character on the series.
Don't get too excited or disappointed yet as no casting announcement or deal has been reached, though it's believed Darabont wants Bernthal badly for the role. L.A. Noir will focus on the battle between cops and organized crime baddies during the 1940s and 50s in Los Angeles, around the era the upcoming film The Gangster Squad takes place. It's viewed as an extension of that. The show is also based upon a book by Jon Buntin.
GTBP will let you know what happens either way, or you fans of The Walking Dead will see Shane get offed in an episode at some point. Say it ain't so...

If this is true, it is really nice to see Jon Bernthal to be back at the movies.
SPOILER ALERT:
Shane died in the comic, and will die in the TV show by the end of season 2.
