Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 2:30PM Found-Footage Horror Movie 'V/H/S' Causes Man to Faint?

Certainly there have been unsettling and horrific movie moments that have resulted in many of us damn near blowing chunks or passing out. Maybe the Saw franchise left you nauseous. For me, recently opting to spend money on Steven Soderbergh's Haywire created an uneasy feeling in stomach.
For one movie goer attending a screening at Sundance of the new found footage horror film V/H/S was enough to cause him to faint, according to Deadline. Apparently, the man felt extremely unnerved by a scene early in the movie that was "particularly gruesome." Shortly after the embarrassed man left the theater, while a mere 20 minutes later another patron was treated for nausea. Sounds like an exciting movie experience to me, seriously.
The directors David Bruckner, Glenn McQuaid, Radio Silence, Joe Swanberg, Ti West, and Adam Wingard have to be kind of pleased with that result, don't they?
Here's the IMDB synopsis: When a group of misfits is hired by an unknown third party to burglarize a desolate house and acquire a rare VHS tape, they discover more found footage than they bargained for.
It's been suspected that possible shaky-camera work could have also lead to the unpleasant circumstances for these two movie patrons, but I guess we won't know until we see V/H/S for ourselves.
I can honestly admit to feeling incredibly during one movie moment. It was a torture scene in Syriana where the sight and sound of Clooney getting his fingernails removed was truly too much for me to watch. Even now writing about it makes me cringe. I'm sure we all have our own cinematic moments that come to mind, and maybe in the future V/H/S will cause us to have a few more.

Myself and I'm sure many others who have not seen the movie, Syriana, would certainly appreciate a "Spoiler Alert" discretion next time. Thanks.
I would say that was a publicity stunt pulled at Sundance and you and whatever other blog is reporting this have also "fallen" for it. This isn't the first time they've pulled this kind of thing there. Given that it's SUNDANCE the thinking is that nothing so crassly commercial happens there - but it does. Just something to be aware of in the big-time movie show biz.
