Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 7:30PM Box-Office Weekend Results: 'The Grey' Wins So-So Weekend

Just like I predicted, The Grey won this weekend at the box-office with a luke warm $20 million, just slightly over the amount I estimated on Friday's Fearless Forecast. The Grey, the third Winter release starring Liam Neeson, has been getting generally favorable reviews from critics and fans alike. Unknown opened to similar numbers back in Febuary of 2011 and Taken opened slightly better back in 2009. This proves that Liam is a draw for Winter audiences.

Second place is Underworld: Awakening with $12.5 million. I predicted that Underworld 4 would drop by 50% just like the first film and my prediction was indeed correct. My prediction for Underworld 4 was $12.4 million just a hair shy of what it actually made.

One For The Money placed third with $11.75 million. I guessed that the chick flick would earn $15.7 million but that wasn't the case as people went to see Liam Neeson and Kate Beckinsale kick wolf ass.

Red Tails and Man on a Ledge placed fourth and fifth respectively. Red Tails earned $10.4 million, a drop of about 45% from last weekend. Man on a Ledge earned $8.25 million, just $750 k less than my prediction.
