Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 10:20PM Demi Moore to Play Gloria Steinem in ‘Lovelace’ Biopic

In a bit of irony to start off the New Year, we learn that Demi Moore will portray the porn-hating feminist activist Gloria Steinem in the upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic. This particular version is based on Eric Danville's biography "The Complete Linda Lovelace" and has Rob Epstein (Howl) and Jeffrey Friedman as co-directors. Lovelace stars Amanda Seyfried in the title role and has a stellar supporting cast that includes: Peter Sarsgaard, Eric Roberts, Sharon Stone, Juno Temple, Wes Bentley (The Hunger Games), Hank Azaria, Chris Noth, and Robert Patrick.
In case you hadn’t heard of Lovelace, it’s actually one of two films currently in the works on the life of the former porn star. This one is told through the perspective of three interviews conducted at various stages of her life, from the non-descript Linda Boreman to the iconic porn star Linda Lovelace and finally after her transformation into anti-porn activist Linda Marchiano.
While Variety reports that Moore’s role is described as a cameo appearance, it should be memorable enough to add to Moore’s resurgent big screen career. Several news outlets are also confirming that James Franco will also appear in the film as none other than the Playboy creator himself, Hugh Hefner.
It’s too soon to know if this will be a major hit when it hits theaters, but with all the hype surrounding this Lovelace, the makers of the other biopic should be very nervous. What are they going to do to hype their movie? Announce Malin Ackerman will do something soooooooo unusual......like show her breasts......again?
