Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 2:06PM Bradley Cooper Rumored To Cameo in 'Man of Steel'?

I'm all for Hollywood big budget superhero films to be big, audacious and fun. Unfortunately, that sometimes means getting big name actors to play roles in films that don't necessarily need them. Currently suffering from Hollywood-actor-itis in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, which already stars Henry Cavill as Superman and Michael Shannon as the lead villian, General Zod. Rumor comes that Bradley Cooper is supposed to be playing a second villian, albeit in a cameo capacity.
That particular character is none other than [SPOILERS AHEAD] Superman's archememy, Lex Luthor. Here's the interesting tidbit:
CBN has learned that Cooper will appear as Lex Luthor in a cameo role in "Man of Steel." For now this should be considered a rumor, mostly because Snyder has gone on record several times stating that he wants the movie to go in a different direction and bringing back Luthor may be considered as more of the same.
The first draft of the script has Luthor forcing the Kryptonians (Jor-El, Zod, Faora) through a Phantom Zone portal using Kryptonite in the final battle. He then considers forcing Superman through as well, but relents.
I'm not sorry to say, but Bradley Cooper is one of those actors who I enjoyed seeing getting their due after his star-ish making debut on the television series Alias, acting alongside Jennifer Garner. Then he got really big and his onscreen persona just feels like a fragment within a portrayal of himself, or at least the same iteration of a character that he's been playing in other films.
Man of Steel is directed by Zack Snyder and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne. The film is set for release June 14, 2013.
