Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 11:03AM Dudes Behind 'Meet the Spartans' to Lower the Bar Even More With 'Hunger Games' Spoof
Enemy #1
The spoof is a genre that only a select group of people should be allowed to handle. Anyone can throw a wig on an actor and call them Donald Trump or recreate a scene from Twilight, but it takes a special person to mine that material that for quality laughs. Two people who clearly have no business in the genre but yet continue to make movies, Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, have a new movie coming out and their target is making fun of The Hunger Games. All I can say is shoot me now.
If you are at all unfamiliar with the resume of these two hacks, let’s take a moment to run down their contribution to the world:
Meet the Spartans, Vampires Suck, Disaster Movie, Epic Movie and Date Movie.
You may be asking yourselves how is it that the people responsible for these movies are still given the opportunity to continue their assault on the film world? Well, we only have ourselves to blame. The bottom line is their movies don’t cost much and they all end up making money in the end. That in a nutshell is how they are allowed to continue doing what they do. It’s sad really, but in the end it’s a business.
So with that being said, we will now get their take on The Hunger Games. The title for this movie will be…wait for it... The Starving Games and the Katniss Everdeen character will be called…wait for it… Katmiss Evershot…ugh. The movie will also parody The Avengers, Sherlock Holmes and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Let’s all do ourselves a favor and not pay money to see this movie. If we don’t go, the studio doesn’t make money and that may then result in no one giving these two “auteurs” another opportunity to rape our film going experience.
Do the right thing…please.
