The Dark Knight Rises had its long anticipated, by most of us anyway, Blu-ray and DVD release yesterday, so naturally more Batman news soon followed. While speaking to the press about her upcoming role in the musical Les Miserables, Anne Hathaway admitted she'd love to have another chance to play Catwoman, perhaps in her own movie. If Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character (Robin/Nightwing/Batman) from TDKR can possibly find himself in a future DC comic movie than why couldn't Hathaway? Stranger things have happened.
Access Hollywood was able to pick the actresses' brain about how much playing Selina Kyle aka Catwoman meant to her and whether there's more in store for her catty villain.
"No one's talked to me about [doing a spin-off]," she said. "[But] I would love it. I was at a press [conference] the other night for a screening of 'The Dark Knight,' and the moderator asked me, 'So what was it like to say goodbye to the character?' And I burst into tears, because I miss her."
She continued: "It just makes me cry. I miss her. I love Selina so much and I love her presence in my life... I'm crying again."
I don't know that the rest of us miss her portrayal of Catwoman as much, but another spin-off of the character is an intriguing idea. You'd think the movie fan population would want nothing to do with another solo Catwoman film after Halle Berry's disastrous film in '04.
However, I believe Warner Bros. would green light another film in a hurry. They'll especially be all ears if Hathaway grabs an Oscar nomination for Best Actress, or better a yet a win for her role in Les Miserables. Early word is that she gives a phenomenal performance in the film.
Would you want to see Hathaway in her own Catwoman movie or was TDKR enough?
