The talented actors better know as Harry Potter and Dexter have long attempted to separate themselves from these iconic characters they're only recognized as. Daniel Radcliffe's mug can currently be seen in the horror flick The Woman in Black (See our review here), while Michael C. Hall is always pursuing more film as opposed to television roles. Now these two familiar faces, along with a list of other notable stars will soon break into production (March 19th) on the thriller Kill Your Darlings, according to Deadline.
Kill Your Darlings centers on a trio of poets from the famous beat generation: Allen Ginsberg (Radcliffe), Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston) and William Burroughs (Ben Foster) who are brought together in 1944 by a murder. Hall will play Burroughs' close, long time friend who is the victim of this murder. The Closer: Kyra Sedgwick, Elizabeth Olsen (who looks just like the older Olsen twins) and Jennifer Jason Leigh round out the remaining cast of this film, which will be written and directed by John Krokidas marking his feature film debut.
This definitely signifies another golden opportunity for Radcliffe to branch out post-Potter, while also providing him with a great role to further show moviegoers the range in his acting. It doesn't sound as if Hall has a real meaty part in this one, unfortunately.
Having read bits and pieces from the beat generation of poets and writers, it'll be a trip to see how these artists are portrayed on the big screen in this murder/mystery tale. Burroughs in particular always seemed like a total whack job, giving the quirky Foster a chance to shine here.
Killer Films and Benaroya Pictures will distribute the film and a theatrical release is expected next year.
