Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:08PM 'Evil Dead' Remake Talk With Jane Levy & Bruce Campbell

Not to long ago Lily Collins left The Evil Dead remake and a recent television comedy breakout star of the season, now appearing on ABC's Suburgatory, Jane Levy has joined in her place. This bit of casting makes me hopeful that we won't be getting a similar tone with the Collin's starring Mirror Mirror, but there's still trepidation on behalf of the cult-like fanbase of Sam Raimi's original film. Jane Levy and Bruce Campbell offered some words of comfort.
With Fede Alvarez directing the remake and Diablo Cody adding some revisions to the script, the movie is ready to go into production. Here's what Jane Levy had to say:
"I'm so excited… I'm a big fan of the original. To me it's the scariest movie, ever. But this one is really different. They've changed it a lot, but it's still a pretty gory movie. My mom probably can't see it. As for the tone, I think the humor in the first one came from the special effects of the time. I don't know that they meant it to be funny... this one is not funny. It's definitely dark."
Bruce Campbell, who remains a producer on the film gave some new info on the film. Confirming that the evil trees will be back: "They're not terribly well-behaved this time either."
Evil Dead will be shooting in New Zealand.
