Monday, February 20, 2012 at 7:03AM 'Insidious' Sequel Has Returning Characters

I was suprised just as much as everyone else to how entertaining and refreshing that the we could get Insidious from the horror genre. A bit less than a year ago, the film came out in theaters and scared me quite a bit. To my chagrin, Insidious will be getting a sequel directed by James Wan (who helmed the first film) and writer/actor Leigh Whannell confirms that Specs and Tucker will be returning.
For those who don't know, Specs (Leigh Whannell) and Tucker (Angus Sampson) were the paranormal experts who accompanied Elise Rainer (Lin Shaye) as she tried to rid of the spirits possesing Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Renai Lambert (Rose Byrne) son, Dalton Lambert (Ty Simpkins) by exploring the spirit world, only known as The Further.
Dead Central chatted with writer/actor Leigh Whannell about Insidious 2, this is what he had to say on the return of Specs and Tucker:
"I can say that yes, my character will be seen in Insidious 2... It may probably bum a lot of people out, though, to hear this news. It's part of the reason I don't even read the internet message boards anymore; there was this hatred that spewed out from fans saying 'I hated those guys! They sucked! They ruined the movie!' so there will probably be a lot of people out there who will be disappointed to hear that the Specs and Tucker characters will be coming back. (laughs)"
Whannell and Wan were the duo who were behind Saw, the gore-horror megahit of the decade.

Actually, I think this is a good idea if those characters are the MAIN characters in a sequel that stands alone from the first movie.
