Those crazy New Zealanders, they do love their mullets, quirky comedies and jokes about sheep. Two of the three are very present in this trailer (although there is a shot of a herd of sheep, so something tells me there will be sheep jokes) for Two Little Boys. The movie features Brett Mackenzie from Flight of the Conchords and Hamish Blake. I’ve never heard of him before.
The synopsis of the film breaks down like this:
|
When Nige runs over and accidently kills a Scandinavian soccer star in an unfortunate incident involving a hot meat pie, a ginger cat and a policeman, his life really turns to crap. He chucks the body in a nearby road works hole and runs to his best mate of fifteen years, Deano. Trouble is, Deano's not really the guy you should turn to in a crisis. |
I read that some are calling this New Zealand’s Dumb and Dumber. That sounds like someone is trying way too hard to peg this movie. But maybe it’s true. I would have no problem with that. I just hope this doesn’t turn out to be New Zealand’s Harold and Kumar.
But being that I am a fan of comedies from other countries and being a huge fan of Flight of the Conchords, I will be keeping an eye on this one. Kinda related, a movie that I holds a special place in my heart is Meet the Feebles, which is also a product of New Zealand and director Peter Jackson. And while I’m throwing out props, another movie I find quite endearing: Eagle vs. Shark, also from New Zealand and stars the other Conchord, Jermaine Clement. Well, It sounds I love New Zealand so much I should just move there huh? I also really like Kiwi (the fruit) and the Kiwi (bird) is pretty cool looking. I think it’s settled then.
Two Little Boys opens in New Zealand in March and will hopefully find its way to our neck of the woods in the not too distant future.
