I've never been big on TV shows, but one that pulled me in like no other was Avatar: The Last Airbender. It really proves that a kids show can be just as engaging, deep, and exciting as entertainment made for adults. Let's not talk about that...that thing that they released into theaters in 2010. A sequel to the animated series, The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra, has been in the works for some time. Things have been pretty silent about it as of late, but now a new trailer has arrived via IGN.
The show was originally set for an Oct. 2011 air date, but was delayed as what began as small mini-series as grown into something with two seasons and 26 episodes. It's now scheduled for a mid 2012 release date. Taking place 70 years after the conclusion of the original, this new series follows Korra, a female avatar, as she deals with an anti-bending revolution the steampunk metropolis Republic City. That might not make a whole lot of sense to people who aren't already fans, but to me it shows that they aren't just churning out the same thing that we saw in the original. We have a different setting, style, and enemy. Let's hope that the creators can keep the quality level as high as it was in the original.
