Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 4:31PM Al Pacino Lends Voice To 'Despicable Me 2'

I expect Al Pacino’s “acting style” to come through the animation in his first ever voice work as the lead villain in Despicable Me 2. It's reportedly the same role originally left by Javier Bardem and Pacino stepping in makes me wish it was a motion-capture film. Who knows what kind of character is expected since, I would assume, both actors are very different from one another.
There were no further reports on the casting change and that there wasn’t any more information about the role. Despicable Me “was about about a wannabe super-villain named Cru (Steve Carell) who became a hero because he bonded with three little kids. The sequel, once again directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud, will continue the adventure as Cru and his family go up against El Macho and his son, Machito. Pacino is likely voicing El Macho.”
The film grossed nearly $500 million during its run and now with Steve Carell and Pacino voicing characters, the film is surely to do about the same box-office pedigree. In all seriousness, doesn’t anybody else want to see Pacino be motion-captured and animated? It would be epic. At least we’ll get his usual angry-voice thing he does best.
