Monday, February 6, 2012 at 7:12AM Leaked 'Oz: The Great and Powerful' Photo Of Flying Monkeys

Can we begin with the possible nightmares? I’m sure many of us were terrified by the flying monkeys in the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz and it comes as no surprise that Sam Raimi has figured out a way to scare a new generation of moviegoers with the iconic flying mammals in Oz: The Great and Powerful.
The leaked photo comes from Perez Hilton and showcases the actual suit for the flying monkey which seems to be human-sized. Even more so terrifying that the crouching originals. See the picture below:

Really freaky, no? The face has a definitive ape-like features that blends with prehistoric-man and one of the major differences from the classic flying monkeys is that their arms seem to be attached to their wings instead of seperated. A tad eerier.
In case you’re unaware of the newest Oz film, check out the film synopsis:
Walt Disney Pictures' fantastical adventure "Oz The Great and Powerful," directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking-that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity-and even a bit of wizardry-Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.
Oz: The Great and Powerful is directed by Sam Raimi, starring James Franco, Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis and Michelle Williams. The film is scheduled for release March 8, 2013.
