Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 10:02PM JGL to Step Behind the Camera for Comedy with Scarlett Johansson

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a very busy man with three movies dropping this summer alone, plus he plans to try his hand at directing soon as well. Deadline reported that JGL is preparing to make his directorial debut on a comedy film, which he will star opposite of the lovely Scarlett Johansson in. He describes this new movie as "a modern-day Don Juan, and his quest to become less of a 'selfish dick", which comes from the script he also wrote.
The movie will be financed by Voltage Pictures, and is said to be currently looking for its second female lead to join the cast. That person is expected to be added shortly. Production on his directorial effort is the scheduling conflict that may prevent JGL from making an appearance in Quentin Tarantino's star-studded western Django Unchained.
Here's what he had to say about possibly being unable to work with a filmmaker he greatly admires like QT.
JGL said, "It will be tricky schedule-wise, but I was honest with Quentin upfront. He was so cool and encouraging. He said, ‘You strike me as the kind of guy who would want to direct,’ and I took that as high praise."
After we experience his performances in The Dark Knight Rises, Looper and Premium Rush this summer and Lincoln in December, JGL will look to impress audiences further with his writing and directing skills. We will have to wait and see how he does...
