Jonah Hill out, Robbie Pickering in...
Since comedy standout Jonah Hill was rumored as the director of the upcoming vampire-zombie-alien flick The Kitchen Sink we haven't heard much about it. Now it turns out that Hill is no longer attached to make his directorial debut with the film, as Deadline reports director Robbie Pickering (Natural Selection) will be stepping in to take over. The script, which gets its name from vampires, aliens, zombies and everything but the kitchen sink being thrown into the film, was written by Oren Uziel. It made the black list in 2010 (a list of the most popular unproduced screenplays in Hollywood in any given year).
Pickering's first film, a comedy called Natural Selection picked up a slew of awards at SXSW last year, while also being nominated at the Independent Spirit Awards for Best First Feature recently. Sadly, there's no word yet on when The Kitchen Sink will head into production, but it will be distributed by Sony Pictures and produced by The Amazing Spider-Man producer Matthew Tolmach.
At least, production seems right around the corner as opposed to when Hill was reportedly slated to direct, since it was likely going to come after 21 Jump Street and everything else on the actors busy schedule. Zombie, vampires and alien movies are done to death, which is why this film has so much comedic potential.
