New 'Django Unchained' Photos Shows QT Still The Master of His Domain

As many of you already know, Quentin Tarantino has a new movie coming out Dec. 25th.  Django Unchained is the name that it goes by.  Will this be another crowning achievement in his already game changing career?  As much as I love QT’s films I get nervous when a new one is about to unfold.   He always seems to walk that tightrope between genius and becoming a laughable parody of himself.   Two new photos from the movie have just been released and I gotta say I like what I see.

Am I still nervous?   Yeah a little bit, but not as much as I was before I saw these pictures.

And yes, it’s only two photos, but there’s something about them that gives me the feeling this movie will be a little crazier than Inglorious Basterds but just as equal in quality. Christoph Waltz and Jamie Foxx look like they are perfect fits as Dr. King Shultz and Django.  Plus, the thought of having Waltz chewing thru QT’s dialogue once more…THAT’S A BINGO.

Then there is the picture of Leonardo Dicaprio, as plantation own Calvin Candie.  I don’t know about you, but I get this Gangs of New York Bill the Butcher vibe.  Leo always seems to take himself so seriously now, brooding all the time.  It would be good to see him ham it up and have some fun with this.

Will this movie be as good as Inglorious Basterds?  That movie, with all its bombast and blurring of reality, was pretty stellar.  And was good to see QT get some of his swagger back, something that he lost I felt with his segment of the Grindhouse movie and to some extent, Kill Bill.  Will this movie come anywhere near his first 3 movies (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown)?  No, but that’s more than okay.  Those films are in a league of their own.

So as of right now, I’m a little bit more psyched to see Django Unchained.   Hopefully, come Christmas Day,  my movie stocking won’t be filled with coal.

I have high hopes for this, and am glad Leo is finally working with QT.
