Friday, April 6, 2012 at 7:36AM From Vampire to Man-Whore, Pattinson Gets Around in 'Bel Ami' Trailer

I found myself impressed with Robert Pattinson's acting chops away from the Twilight franchise in the Cosmopolis trailer. Unfortunately, he takes two giant steps backward, in my opinion in Bel Ami, which I've included the new trailer for today. The film doesn't look bad per say, but it's clearly a romantic tale aka chick flick aimed at a female audience.
Bel Ami centers on Pattinson's Georges Duroy, a playboy who rises to power in Paris by wooing and bedding the wealthiest and most influential married women in the city during the late 1800s. Yeah, not my kind of movie despite being based upon a highly-regarded classic novel.
Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas portray Duroy's pals during these naughty, passionate trysts, while the great Colm Meaney (Hell on Wheels) co-stars as the rightfully angry husband of one of these unfaithful women.
Bel Ami will be in theaters on June 8th, and On Demand May 4th. I'll wait to see what kind of reviews this gets, before giving it a chance.
