;
We've all heard about Kick-Ass 2 being in the works, so the same cast of "kick ass" youngsters returning for the sequel isn't stop the presses news. Just picture for a second, humor me by thinking how unsatisfying another Kick-Ass would be minus our titular character, Hit-Girl or Red Mist. Would you see it?
Reports from Deadline indicated the three young stars Aaron Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, McLovin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) would reprise their popular hero roles again, as would the non-selective actor Nicolas Cage, who returns for a cameo as Big Daddy. All are in deep negotiations at the moment, which is a positive sign for a sequel that is coming in with a new script writer and director (not Matthew Vaughn), both being filled by Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down). I don't know about you, but I haven't seen any of Wadlow's previous work. Not sure what to expect here.
However, the announcement that these stars are on the verge of returning is a huge one in my estimation. I assumed with increasingly more roles offered to them that Aaron Johnson (Savages) and Chloe Grace Moretz (Carrie remake, Dark Shadows) could become too big time and/or too old for a follow up to the cult classic that Kick-Ass has recently become. Thank goodness I'm generally wrong regarding these predictions...
Once these guys are signed on, Kick-Ass 2: Balls 2 the Wall (the last title I saw for it) will begin shooting in fall. The ending of the first film was one of those trendy, set up for a sequel finishes, so not getting more would be a real travesty. In case you forgot it ended with Red Mist (Mintz-Plasse) wanting to get revenge on former friend Kick-Ass and his side-kick Hit-Girl for killing his father and crushing the family business.
Who's ready for round 2 of Hit-Girl mopping the floor with fools?
