Word has come down from Warner Bros. Pictures that their upcoming claustrophobic thriller, Hidden, has begun filming and production is now well under way. The films cast includes Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood, Battleship) and Andrea Riseborough (Never Let Me Go, Shadow Dancer) in what will be one of her more prominent roles on this side of the pond. Hidden marks the directorial feature length film debut of twin brothers Matt and Ross Duffer.
The film focuses on what seems on the surface to be a perfectly normal couple, Ray (Skarsgård) and Claire (Riseborough), raising their young daughter in North Carolina. The catch is that for nearly the last year, they’ve been living in a fallout shelter to escape some unknown catastrophic outbreak that has ravaged the land. For a time they’ve managed to remain untouched and meek out an existence as they turn their shelter into a functional home, until something comes to threaten the family’s safety.
The Duffer brothers also scripted the film and it could make for an interesting project, coming off as a tasty combination of The Road and Panic Room. Things are just getting started right now but the film is prepped for a release sometime in 2013.
