Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 4:12AM Del Toro To Join HBO with 'Nutshell Studies'

Creative storyteller Guillermo del Toro has produced, written, and directed some eclectic tales for the big screen. With films like Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth, and the upcoming Mama, it's no doubt that when you want something different, just go to him.
The master of juggling multiple projects, del Toro is known to always have his name on something and he wants to join the heavy hitters that headline the HBO family of series creators, with a series of his own.
Inspired by the iconic days of the Alfred Hitchcock Presents TV series, del Toro is looking to create a book based series from "The Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death" by Corinne May Botz. Where this won't have the creature touch that a lot of his films have, the series could carry the mystery and thrills of Hitchcock, with a del Toro twist.
If this series option is picked up del Toro is set up to join big ballers like Alan Ball (True Blood) and Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire). But it also preps HBO for another Emmy possible series.
In the world of premium cable programming, HBO cannot be stopped.
