Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 7:07AM Poster for Bay's 'Pain and Gain' Flexes Its Guns
"We want to pump you up!"
You've probably noticed Michael Bay kinda gets picked on by our writers, whether it be for his Transformers shortcomings or the Ninja Turtles script blunder. Sorry Michael. In Bay's defense his new movie Pain and Gain starring The Rock, Mark Wahlberg and Anthony Mackie as Florida bodybuilders who ditch pumping iron in favor of a money making schemes looks promising to me.
The new teaser poster released last night only strengthens that perception. He may have a winner on his hands here. Or maybe it's just refreshing to see him make a film not so dominated by special effects.
You gotta give the poster props for being clever and fitting the subject matter like a glove. Well played, Michael.

Pain and Gain comes from a 1999 article from the Miami New Times, showcasing two bodybuilders (Johnson, Wahlberg) who get involved in kidnapping and extortion plans, which take a turn for the worse. Imagine that. The film comes in with a $20 million budget as well, peanuts to a big spender like Bay.
Here's hoping Bay makes a solid action-comedy here. I miss movies like The Rock, easily my favorite film from his pre-Transformers days. Pain and Gain arrives in theaters this April.
