Friday, September 21, 2012 at 7:08AM British Remake 'Gambit' Trailer, Coen Bros Style.

Remakes aren't a foreign idea. But it is being overtaken by reboots, where a story is transformed into something very different; usually the directors own visual delight. Although reboots are the bees knees (Christopher Nolans' Batman Trilogy), remakes have their fun qualities too. Maybe the excitement of seeing hints of the original film?
Let's see if that happens with the newest remake to come out. The trailer for Gambit, a 1966 British con flick, has hit the net and stars Cameron Diaz, Alan Rickman, and Colin Firth. The screenplay was drafted Joel and Ethan Coen best known for Raising Arizona as well as other box office hits. This peek looks like another success.
Everyone looks like they bring their "A" game. Firth, Rickman and Stanley Tucci (probably my favorite part of this whole movie) are a fantastic comedy trio. Then there's Diaz, with this jacked up country accent and an accentuated mouth that looks like you could park a Buick in it, who feels like dead weight. I do like the girl, but I really hope she doesn't destroy this. Remakes can make a comeback, right?
I'll let you decide.
