The Green Goblin Swoops Into 'Amazing Spider-Man 2'?

Few things are more polarizing in the original Spider-Man then Willem Dafoe's protrayel of the Green Goblin. Fans point to his menacing presence, and detractors point to his over-the-top cackling and goofy mask.  It turns out...they're both mostly right, but with the presence of Norman and Harry Osbourne in the reboot, it'll be interesting to see how they reimagine the part.  We've already been given one hint as to just who will play the role.

As has been previously announced, Chronicles' Dane Dehann will be playing Harry Osbourne, Norman's son.  In all of the previous iterations, Norman has become the Green Goblin first, with his son to later take up the mantle.

During the premiere of the film Kill Your Darlings, which stars Dehann, director John Krokidas introduced him as "the Green Goblin".  Maybe this means Dehann mentioned to Krokidas what happens to him in the movie, and we'll see Harry turn into the Goblin before the end credits of the next movie.  Or, maybe Krokidas was just throwing things out that he knew would draw attention, it isn't as though there's any confirmation that he has any behind-the-scenes knowledge for what's going on in the film.  With the confirmed villain to be Jamie Foxx as Electro, though, it would be curious if they tried to throw another baddie into the mix.

I don’t think that this was in any way an indication that Dane would be playing the first Green Goblin in the sequel. A coworker at DISH and I agree that they already have Electro, and adding another villain would be too distracting. They have also mentioned Norman too much to not use him at some point, so I don’t think there is reason to speculate about Harry. I am excited to see the role he plays in this movie, and I am glad that during the wait I can pass the time, by watching everything Spider-Man using Blockbuster @Home from DISH. With my busy schedule, I love that I can get the movies I want delivered in the mail. But I also love having the option of unlimited in store exchanges if I forget to return my movies. The origin of the Green Goblin is too well known to just rewrite it, but I am interested to see if Norman makes an appearance alongside his son in this new movie.
