I still remain a huge fan of the original Planet of the Apes and at least one of its sequels, so I was one of the biggest skeptics when it came to prequel/reboot/whatever the hell they're calling it now Rise of the Planet of the Apes. In the end, though, it just kicked ass. It entertaining as hell and somehow managed to make the idea of apes rising up and taking over the world plausible. Now we have the first poster for the sequel, and I love it.
Horses were the main mode of transportation for the apes in the original, so the presence of both that and the gun point pretty definitively that they're trying to channel more of the style of the original movie.
It follows Caesar, the ape leader as he attempts to reconcile his commitment to his growing new society with his desire to maintain peace with the surviving humans. Look for it in 2014.
