Oz the Great & Powerful is the film that Sam Raimi left the upcoming Warcraft film to direct, so I imagine he has a fair amount of confidence in it. He certainly has a lot to live up to. The Wizard of Oz still stands as one of the most influential films ever made. If this movie fails, it could fail hard. Here are two new clips, plus interviews that can help you make up your mind as to whether it's worth checking out.
The new clips and plot details conform both my confidences and fears about the project. The story has strong areas that it can go to, but the CGI still just looks fake.
Another thing that I find strange is that it seemed pretty conclusive that at the end of the first film, Oz and it's inhabitants was all just a dream in Dorothy's head. Of course, that didn't stop them from making Return to Oz, so maybe I'm just nitpicking.
Oz the Great and Powerful is set for a March 8 release date, and stars James Franco, Rachel Weisz, and Mila Kunis.
