Tina Fey Says "No Way" To The Oscars

Seth MacFarlane's hosting of the Academy Awards was controversial, to say the least.  From the beginning opening number titled "We Saw Your Boobs" to the ending song dedicated to the losers of the year, it's been accused of being sexist, antisemitic, and mean-spirited.  The Family Guy creator has stated that he has no plans to return, and fan favorite that emerged over night to host next year's ceremony was female comedian Tina Fey.  It would be a brilliant choice, but it's unfortunately one that we'll have to live without.

Fey was doing an interview with The Huffington Post for her new film Admission, she was asked about whether or not she would be willing to take up MacFarlane's role.  She responded with,

I just feel like that gig is so hard. Especially for, like, a woman -- the amount of months that would be spent trying on dresses alone ... no way.

With how much flack MacFarlane is taking, you can't blame her (though I imagine she'd be much more tactful then him).  She doesn't sound like she'd be dying to do it without the workload,  so it may be apathy rather than the presence of real obstacles.  It's disappointing, but the Academy has plenty of tried-and-true Oscar hosts to choose from, and plenty of hopefuls (Neil Patrick Harris would be awesome).  Here's hoping they make the right choice for next year.

Why do people bash the hosts so much? Isn't the whole show written for them? If that is the case then what did Seth MacFarlane have to do with any of the jokes or musical numbers?
