Thanks to his losses to the Bernie Madoff scheme, we've been given a long stream of major Nicolas Cage performances in the last few years, good (Kick-Ass) and bad (The Wicker Man, Bangkok Dangerous, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Next, Knowing, take your pick, really). A screenshot for one of his newest films has been released, and it only really has one memorable feature: what might be the fakest beard seen onscreen in recent history.
I don't know what the budget for this film is, but I'm guessing not much of went to makeup. It looks like it's badly photoshopped on. But that doesn't really matter ultimately, so here's the plot description:
In the dirty unruly world of small-town Texas, ex-convict Joe Ransom (Cage) has tried to put his dark past behind him and to live a simple life. He works for a lumber company by day, drinks by night.
But when 15-year-old Gary (Sheridan) - a kid trying to support his family - comes to town, desperate for work, Joe has found a way to atone for his sins - to finally be someone's hero. As Joe tries to protect Gary, the pair will take the twisting road to redemption in the hope for a better life.
A release date for Joe has not been announced.
