Storm of Comic-Con Info On Every Superhero Movie Ever (See: 'Avengers 2' and 'Batman/Superman' Mashup)
When times are so crazy that an awesome Guillermo Del Toro about giant robots can be a box office disappointment, we need a source of stability in the geek world. It's good news that Comic-Con was just around the corner, and it was one where we gone some pretty illuminating information. Luckily this is an age of the internet, and we can get all of that information without being there. Here's some stuff from the Marvel and DC movie universes.
First, we have a full name for Avengers 2. It will be called Avengers: Age of Ultron. That's a much bigger deal if you're a comic book fan. In the comics, Ultron is a robotic being created by Hank Pym, also known as Ant Man. Ultron proceeds to turn evil and kills a number of important superheroes.
That seemed like an odd choice, considering the Ant Man film isn't supposed to come to be released until after Avengers 2. Joss Whedon clarified this in an interview,
Because there was a book called 'Age of Ultron' quite recently, a lot of people have assumed that is what we're doing, but that is not the case...We're doing our own version of the origin story for Ultron. In the origin story, there was Hank Pym, so a lot of people assumed that he will be in the mix. He's not...We're crafting our own version, where his origin comes more directly from The Avengers we already know about.
So, he'll probably end up being created by one of the established Marvel characters. Tony Stark sounds like a pretty good bet.
It's also been hinted that we might see some of the current roster of Avengers get killed off. They do have to make room for the new roster, after all.
As for Thanos (the originally hinted-at villain at the end of the first Avengers), we'll probably have to wait until Avengers 3 as the main villain. He will be heavily featured in Guardians of the Galaxy, howevor.
Now, onto the DC news. To the surprise of no one, there will be a sequel to Man of Steel. It won't be just about Superman, though, he'll also be bringing Batman along for the ride.
They'll be facing off in some form. Director Zack Snyder said,
I'm so excited to begin working again with Henry Cavill in the world we created, and I can't wait to expand the DC Universe in this next chapter...Let's face it, it's beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest Super Heroes in the world.
We got a combined logo of the two superhero giant:
Allegedly, the Man of Steel sequel will be followed by a Justice League and then a Flash movie. It will be separate but "informed" by the Dark Knight chronology.
