Benedict Cumberbatch To Go To A Galaxy Far, Far Away?

It's actually a little strange with how quickly Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch became a household name.  A few years ago, I didn't know who he was, and you probably didn't either.  Now, he's been given starring roles in two of the biggest franchises out there, Star Trek and The Hobbit.  That's not to say he doesn't deserve it, his performance in Star Trek Into Darkness was so powerful it helped people forget that movies many flaws.  Here's one more franchise he might play a role in.

Star Wars.  Numerous source, include Ain't It Cool News and Film Chronicles are reporting on the news, saying they have "reliable sources".  Ain't it Cool in particular says that they are "about 90% certain Benedict Cumberbatch will play a Sith in EPISODE VII.".

This also seems consistent with other things that we've been observing with Cumberbatch's career, as he's recently dropped out of other high-profile roles, like Guillermo Del Toro's Crimson Peak.

What do you guys think of this?

There is nothing in the least "strange" about Benedict Cumberbatch's success and it didn't happen quickly at all. That you apparently don't watch the BBC, or never asked who that brilliant actor was whole stole "Amazing Grace" out from under it's all-star cast with his stunning portrayal of William Pitt the Younger, or who played "Hawking" with heart-rending perfection, or who has delivered performance after award-winning performance on stage, on TV on radio and in film for over a decade, well, it kind of says more about you than him.

America is not actually the world, and most of the rest of the world knew exactly how great a talent Benedict Cumberbatch is for rather a long time. Nice that you and others here are finally catching up. Join us: the many, the proud, the grateful to be Cumberbatched.
