With the books officially closed on the 2013 summer movie season, we can now start looking ahead to 2014. And wouldn't you know, there's a new Transformers movie coming out. Who's excited? Okay, don't jump up all at once...anyone...c'mon this series has made close to $1.2 Billion in the U.S alone, somebody has to be excited? Still no takers? I'll let you think it over (I personally really liked the 1st one). So while you're doing that, I'll tell you about Transformers 4 and a possible new title, or one of 4 possible new titles.
How do these titles sound to you? Transformmers: Apocalypse, Transformers Last Stand, Transformers: Future Cast or my favorite out of the lot, Transformers: Don't Expect Much...I'm only kidding. Actually the 4th possible title is Transformers: Age of Extinction. The possibility of one of these titles came about from the brand protection agency, MarkMonitor (which also the registar for the official Transformers website) and who that registered the domain name for Dark of the Moon has registered these 4 titles. There is also a possibility that Transformers 4 could take on an entirely different title altogether, but why start registering these if they weren't the final candidates? Ok, seriously, who's excited now? Anyone? You with the Transformers shirt on, are you excited? Still nothing...oh boy.
Despite all the criticism and fodder for jokes, as I stated before, the series has been hugely successful. For a studio, doing a 4th movie is a no brainer, but you have to wonder, how much of an effort is really going to be put into this movie? Michael Bay, who it seems is only doing this movie as payback to Paramount for allowing him to make Pain & Gain (which I also really liked), will no doubt bring his usual chaotic style to this film. But does he even care about trying to make a decent movie? Will this one be worse than the last two? Just food for thought.
Transformers 4 will be out June 27th. I'm sure we"ll, as will you, will have plenty to say about this movie upon and during its release.
