New Images and Clip from 'Let Me In'

We are only four Fridays away from Let Me In, the US remake of Let the Right One In that will probably do more business in its first three days than the original did in its entire US release window. That's a pity, but as I always say, there's a chance people will see the new one, and with their antennae raised about it, go back to watch the real thing.

Five new images for Matt Reeves' remake have been released, along with our first clip from the film. It stars Chloe Moretz, best known for Hit-Girl in Kick-Ass, a performance that nearly made Roger Ebert call Child Protective Services. So why didn't he say a goddamn thing about Bobby J. Thompson's foul mouth in Role Models or, indeed, Lina Leandersson's bloodlust in Let the Right One In? But I digress. Her co-star in Let Me In is Kodi Smit-McPhee, who along with the great Richard Jenkins factors in to the rest of these photos. Jenkins plays a key role in the clip, which we snagged from Trailer Addict.

Liam Neeson Playing Naval Admiral in 'Battleship'

Battleship keeps getting weirder. Not Crispin Glover weird, but it has become anything but the movie that popped into everyone's mind when the board game adaptation was announced over a year ago. "Adaptation" seems an ill-fitting word; more than anything, it's just using the name of Hasbro's game with an entirely different set of circumstances.

So Peter Berg has aliens and Rihanna and supermodel Brooklyn Decker - the latter two should at least be pleasant distractions from the first, a real waste of this opportunity - and now it has Liam Neeson, whose career has really been in high gear since Taken was released.

Trailer - Uwe Boll Has Made an Auschwitz Movie

What with today being my last here at The Big Picture, after however long it's been and with however many online miles under my belt, I was so thankful that there was Uwe Boll news today. What kind of send-off would it have been without the world's worst director who, even for Uwe Boll, might have reached a new low?

Sure to spark controversy but never make anybody involved a single dime, Uwe's latest movie is called Auschwitz, another in a disturbingly long line of Reichsploitation films. As Twitchfilm says, a serious film about this subject is not a bad thing. I'll go a step further and say that we're two, three generations from children not learning about The Holocaust in any other way but films like Schindler's List, and that's pretty sad. This film isn't quite steered the same way: It features Uwe manning the gas chamber himself, and you can draw your own conclusions if you wish. Anything for a headline, I guess. Character Posters for Boring-Looking 'Megamind'

My megamind is made up on Megamind. I think it looks terrible, reheated, and derivative, like some second-rate fast food joint selling something they call The Whomper. Here, courtesy of HeyUGuys are three new character posters for a movie I can't wait to not have to see:
Click Any Poster to Enlarge I don't know why I have this aversion to Megamind. I liked it better when it was Robert Downey, Jr. instead of Will Ferrell (although it was originally Ben Stiller), and better still when it was Oobermind instead of Megamind. The trailers aren't particularly arresting and it just seems like they've really childproofed the house, so to speak, eliminating anything potentially dangerous with this one and keeping it as safe as possible. I'm sure it will do astonishing business (OK, if it's expected, then it really can't be astonishing) and it will sell a fair amount of merchandise, but I just don't get the sense that it's anything we haven't seen before. Megamind opens November 5th, if you're interested.

Rumor Patrol: Did Martin Freeman Pass on Bilbo?

Just a few hours ago, we mentioned that The Daily Star is slightly more reputable than its British tabloid brother, The Sun. As if on cue, here's a casting rumor from The Sun, picked up by The One Ring.

If it's The One Ring, of course, we know that means Middle Earth, and that probably means casting for The Hobbit. In this case - as opposed to, say, Eddie Murphy as The Riddler or Cher as Catwoman - this is one rumor that makes a lot of sense. How about Martin Freeman (the original Office and the forgettable Hitchhiker's Guide movie) as Bilbo Baggins? I kind of like that, actually. Unfortunately, the rumor is that Freeman can't take the gig because of his work on Sherlock. Not the movie, no. Freeman plays Dr. Watson in the new BBC series about the master detective, who is played by Benedict Cumberbatch, possessor of both a great British name and a great British face (you'll know him as soon as you see him). The series, incidentally, is contemporary, not Victorian.
